What comes next, after the awesome inspirational quote?
One thing I’ve discovered is that there are about a billion wonderful quotes of inspiration and motivation available in this day and age.
They can cross your path and not register at all…and they can also be an excellent jumpstart to shake you out of comfort and complacency.
If you’ve been going through the motions in your life, halfheartedly saying you’re going to change some unhealthy habits…or go after that life goal you keep talking about…then a great quote at the right time can be powerful.
Perhaps across your Facebook News Feed comes one of these posts:
It might serve as the wake-up call you need in that moment to remind you that life is short…stop wasting time… make the choice now to live the life you want.
What happens next to many of us is the hard part:
How do we channel that temporary motivation into tangible steps towards change? How do we sustain that positive feeling over days and weeks and months?
Several keys contribute to the success of your making change that lasts:
1) Clear goals and vision
2) A plan
3) Concrete, do-able steps you can follow
4) Support
5) Accountability
6) Re-evaluation & re-calibration of your plan
Some people can follow these steps on their own. Others will use a buddy system or a support group to keep them going.
And another group of people have found it helpful to work with a health & wellness coach to stay on track and keep moving forward.
It’s not clear just how long it takes to form a new habit – research shows anywhere from 21 days to 6 months. It’s different for everybody.
For many of us, seeing the positive effects of healthy change will keep us motivated — until we feel we’ve incorporated the new habit into our life.
It takes time to make real change that lasts.
Give yourself the best chance for success you can by being clear about your goal, making a plan that can be followed step-by-step, finding people who believe in you & who you can be accountable to – and then go for it.
You won’t regret it.

Great thoughts!
It is widely known that nurses have the heart capacities–high quality bedside manners–that significantly contribute to accelerated patient recovery. In this arena, Janet is at the high end of the spectrum.
What puts her head and shoulders above other health practitioners that I have witnessed is her natural ability to make people laugh. If laughter is good medicine, then Jan is the prescription!
Seriously. No kidding. She is FUN to work with.
